Meet The Owners!

We are a mother & daughter duo living on the island of Maui in the state of Hawai'i.

Our names are Kim (mom on the left) & Haukea (me on the right).

Kim is from Keaukaha on the Hawai'i island and moved to Maui in 2001. She has always been creative in the things she does no matter what it is, she always took up the challenge. She used to do pop stands with her best friend at local festivals in Oregon selling food along with small hand-crafted Hawai'i-inspired items. Her favorite thing to do is go to the ocean and catch sun rays.

Haukea is born and raised on the island of Maui. In summer 2018, I decided to start buying things for jewelry making because every time we go to our local swap meets there's a lot of pop-up tents full of sellers with their handmade jewelry. I thought I could do the same thing and we could just implement our own creativity into it. We started off with small simple things like these in the picture below..eventually, we both got better with drilling our own pearls, making use of different types of shells, beads, etc etc etc. We even improved a lot more on wire wrapping skills and we still have a lot more ideas of what to wire wrap next!

When I first started making jewelry it was because I felt a connection with creating something different, something I liked, and I didn't have to buy it from someone. Eventually, over time my mom & I decided it would be a good idea to start selling because people were noticing the jewelry we were wearing and wanted to know where it was from! We decided on the name Hau'kea Treasures as our business name because it was a different name and at some point, we would love to venture out to different things like possibly household items and other things we can make..it can all treasure! Not just jewelry.
